ABOUT US

Founded by journalists in 2009, Rwenzori Media Development Foundation (RMDF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening community media in rural Uganda.

WHAT WE DO

Media

Capacity Building

We strive to embark on short-term courses facilitated by seasoned journalists targeting both new and mid-career journalists.

Environment and

Agriculture Journalism

We train journalists to professionally and regularly cover the Environment and Agriculture sectors in their regular news and programming so as to attract stakeholder attention and accountability

Civic

Competence

We undertake processes aimed at empowering or shaping people’s attitudes, roles, and values for responsible citizenry in accordance with national goals and interests.

Investigative

Journalism

Investigative journalism holds governments and vested interest groups to account and uncovers abuse of power and human rights. Support to investigative journalism initiatives has always been a cornerstone in RMDF’s work.

Education and

Health Journalism

We seek to build journalists’ investigative and watchdog skills in reporting on the performance of public health and education sectors.

Media Apprenticeship

We are committed to growth, development and creating diversity within the media Industry. As part of that commitment, RMDF has created an Apprenticeship Program, which we have built into our organizational concept.

Our Beneficiaries Say

DENISE PICTURE.jpg

"One of the most rewarding aspects of my time at RMDF has been collaborating with fellow students from diverse backgrounds and interests. We have formed a supportive community fostering creativity, innovation, and growth. Our instructors have created a safe space for us to experiment, take risks, and learn from our mistakes.

As I continue my journey at RMDF School of Journalism, I'm excited to see what the future holds. This school has given me more than experience - it has given me a voice, a platform, and a community of like-minded individuals who share my passion for storytelling. With its strong industry connections, I know I will be well prepared to make a meaningful impact in the world of journalism"
