Local Journalist Attacked and Robbed, RMDF Condemns Assault

A chilling attack on a local journalist has sent shockwaves through the media community, with Rwenzori Media Development Foundation (RMDF) Director Martin Kibaba strongly condemning the assault.

On July 28, TV West journalist, Daniel Beingana, was brutally beaten and robbed by unknown masked assailants while reporting on environmental issues affecting our wetlands. The attackers stole his camera and laptop, threatening him to stop reporting on environmental matters.

"We vehemently condemn this heinous attack on our journalist, Daniel," Director Martin Kibaba said. "This cowardly act of intimidation and violence is a stark reminder of the risks journalists face in their pursuit of truth and accountability. We stand in solidarity with Dan and demand that his assailants be brought to justice."

Daniel, who is receiving medical treatment for his injuries, expressed his determination to continue reporting on critical issues despite the attack. "I will not be silenced," Daniel said. "I will continue to shine a light on environmental degradation and promote sustainability, even in the face of adversity."

In a social media release, RMDF has pledged to support Daniel and all journalists in their unwavering dedication to exposing the truth.
